You can make your surveys completely anonymous. In essence, there is no electronic trace by which you can link the survey participants’ responses to their identifying information. Especially in situations where candid feedback can be seen as very sensitive, this is a powerful opportunity for both you and your participants.
Once you set your survey as anonymous, the electronically identifying information is detached from the survey responses. You will not be able to track and match the following details of the survey participants:
- Email address
- IP address
- Date and time of responses
- Content of responses
Here’s how you can set a survey as anonymous:
- Navigate to the Design tab.
- Select the survey and click on Edit.
- Select Settings.
- Go to Type of Survey, select Anonymous Survey, and toggle the switch to set your survey as Anonymous or Semi-Anonymous.
- Click on Save.
Once you set a survey as anonymous, a link will appear in the footer of the survey participation page, notifying participants that this feature is in place.
Clicking on this footer will display the following message:
