How do I exercise my GDPR rights?

How does SoGoSurvey help me with my GDPR rights?
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is designed to give you more rights and control over your personal data. Whenever information directly or indirectly identifying you as an individual is stored or processed, your data protection rights have to be respected. SoGoSurvey will ensure that your data is treated accordingly.

Let’s define personal data
‘Personal data’ can be anything that can be used to identify you as an individual such as your name, phone number, location data and email address, to name a few.

How do I access this personal data?
Whether you have created a survey, or have responded to one, this will help you exercise your rights, or assist your users in exercising theirs. The rights afforded by GDPR are as follows:

  • The right of access by you
  • The right to rectification
  • The right to erasure (‘right to be forgotten’)
  • The right to data portability
  • The right to restriction of processing
  • The right to object

How you exercise these rights will differ depending on whether you are a SoGoSurvey user collecting responses, or if you are a participant to a survey?
SoGoSurvey users may exercise their rights with us, but participants to survey should contact the person or organization by which they received the survey. We will aim to ensure that participants receive the correct response from the survey originator if there is an issue contacting them.

So I responded to a survey with my personal information. What now?
If you have sent personal information in a survey and want to exercise your data rights, we suggest you contact the person or organization that created the survey. If this is not possible or there is no response, please contact us and we will aim to resolve your issue right away.

I am a SoGoSurvey user and I collect personal information through surveys.
Keep in mind, as our Privacy Policy states, you are responsible for the data collected by your surveys. If we are to receive a data subject request from an individual who has responded to a survey of yours, we will request that you contact them and resolve their request. It is your responsibility to comply. You can access and download the results of your surveys, and also delete results individually or in bulk.
